Schöller Senior Fellow Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister (with I. Blohm et al.) published a guest editorial in the Journal of Information Technology.
In the article „Next-Generation IS Research Methods – Towards a Better Understanding of Complex and Dynamic Phenomena… and Generative AI as the Elephant in the Room“, the authors argue for advancing research methods that can better handle complex, dynamic phenomena. They highlight the role of generative AI as both a productivity enhancer and a methodological tool across qualitative, quantitative, and engaged research paradigms, while also underscoring associated challenges and shifts in the researcher’s role.
