More and more people turn to AI not just for information, but for counseling\u00a0–\u00a0on health, finances, and increasingly, their careers. Whether AI can actually deliver on the latter, however, has so far remained empirically unanswered. Sch\u00f6ller Fellow PD Dr. Katharina closes this gap with the publication of her study funded by the Sch\u00f6ller Research Center in the Journal of Vocational Behavior, the leading international journal in career research.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The article \u201cPutting AI into Career Coaching: The Effectiveness of a Career Coaching Intervention Conducted by a Chatbot\u201d (with A. Hofer, R. Soucek, and D. Spurk) uses a randomized waiting-list control group design to test a career coaching chatbot developed by Ebner The results show that this one-time chatbot intervention significantly reduced negative affect over a three-week period, and that this reduction was significantly associated with greater clarity regarding one\u2019s career goals. The study thus provides, for the first time, theory-based evidence of the effectiveness of AI in career coaching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
